Update on Bianca the Goat's Surgery
Proceeds from this year's holiday sales went toward surgery for Bianca the goat! We are so grateful to everyone who purchased trees or donated for Bianca.

Bianca suffered from a painful condition which caused her to produce milk continuously for years, as much as a gallon per day, despite Herculean (both medical and holistic) efforts to help her dry up. Bianca could not sustain that much milk production and eventually developed scar tissue making it impossible to relieve the pressure in her swollen udders. After seeing many vet specialists over the years, Bianca's udders reached an emergent status.

On February 2 the heroes at NC State Veterinary Hospital operated on Bianca and saved her life with a radical double mastectomy. She is recovering and had a lot of healing to do, but the difference is atsounding! Bianca is standing up straight for the first time in years and seems way more comfortable.
This sweet goat survived a farm before coming to live with us where the animals were starved and dehydrated. She arrived to me pregnant and ever since has not stopped making milk. Bianca has surmounted the odds to survive so much, and is an intelligent, kind goat who loves everyone. Despite a blown teat, painful scar tissue, and surviving so much, she remained calm and happy throughout this whole ordeal.

Thank you for supporting Bianca!

Another of my animals who needs everyone's support is Pixie. Pixie survived severe neglect at a 'luxury' hunting lodge in Meadows of Dan, Virginia where she also suffered a respiratory infection that went untreated. It seeded in her sinuses where she has 85 percent scar tissue and only 15 percent airflow. But this brave, sweet little dog has never let her challenges define her. She is the best companion animal and has become a source of joy for all who know her. Pixie's congestion easily overcomes her becoming aspirational pneumonia so she requires constant monitoring. When her condition worsens, she must receive vet care within 24 hours. Each after-hours emergency intervention can cost thousands. Pixie is currently in need of a new CT scan of her skull, laparoscopic examination of her sinus cavity and new exams to see if there is anything more that can be done for her. This treatment plan is priced by Upstate Vet in excess of $4000.
